![]() So regardless of if you bought TPA or SPA tables, you see them all regardless of launcher being used. You will see all 4 tables in pinball arcade So if you buy a stern exclusive and also own 3 tables from farsight So if you install SPA and TPA, you get one copy of pinball arcade installedĪnd then one set of stern exclusive tables and one set of licensed to farsight tables ![]() It is just that stern sells some tables solo, and some it licenses out. They have the deal with AtGames/Gottlieb and apparently a similar deal with Stern.Įdited by Tesla, 23 April 2023 - 09:57 PM. One of the Steam reviewers mentioned cross-use between Stern and TPA so it will be interesting to see if I can get the new Stern Tables in TPA (so I can play in Arcooda cabinet-mode).įarSight is actually doing better than I thought, so good for them (seriously). Their Game-Engine is actually pretty good or at least adequate for occasional playing. all I really have time to play lately is Fallout-76 (I have a Level-90 character).īut as the resident TPA-lover around here (and even I haven't played it in months) not sure how I missed a FarSight pinball game. I guess I really just "collect" games in Steam. That is fine, I'll just play them in Steam and/or TPA. ![]() Oh, well there are the newer Stern Tables. Plus, i prefer the older table designs anyways, i get tired of city of ramps. I cant play the damned pinball and watch cartoons at the same time, hell i barely look at a DMD Pinball Arcade on Steam ()īoth developed by farsight, sterns only offers stern tables obviouslyįarsight's stand alone version also offers some stern tables that stern isnt offering soloīoth are free and come with 1 table and then a random free table cycles in and out each weekįwiw, i pay 0 attention to the display on modern stern machines Actually, I'm thinking my collection is fairly complete now at around 40 tables.īut have to work with the fact that presently Stern has their own VPX like offering, so we have to respect that.īut you never know what the future brings So, that explains alot about why the Stern situation is as it is. VPinSPAA was probably the best example of how to blatently rip off and piss off a manufacturer, but some people just dont care and have no respect. JP's Slimer was probably the best way to make a tribute to the real machine, in a respectful way that doesnt piss on the manufacturer. It is still a retail product they offer, in virtual form, so kind of off the table for emulation. So even though the physical machine was release in like 1999 and i forget when production ceased Technically that makes a spike 1 machine still a viable source of income for them. Have to wait for ABC hardware to go to the grave for a while.Īlso, stern does have a consumer virtual pinball product (Stern Pinball Arcade)Īnd in that product they offer spike 1 machines. So has not even reached the moratorium that the vpinmame devs would look at to consider investigating emulation. You could do a script based 'tribute' "magic pinball"īut magic pinball used ABC series hardware, which is still being used by other things So in 2004 we can do "Magic Pinball" yes? Say it does poorly, is discontinued and out of production or retail sale in 2001 So lets say "magic pinball" comes out in 2000 That would be 3 years after discontinuation of any production or sale of X platform It does not, i dont think spike 1 emulation has been thought about yet. Even if it was ready tomorrow and then another 1-2 years for Table-Developers & Designers to ready the first tables, we are then in the 5-year range you mentioned.Įdited by Tesla, 23 April 2023 - 06:31 PM. I didn't mean to break a rule or over-step. However, where does it say in the GitHub how far along that particular project has progressed?Īs for Noah (and related IP-holders). I'm willing to wait until Spike-1/2 is ready for deployment and use in VPX Tables. So, we know that PinMame supports other (older) Stern systems. I'm guessing my next thought is not as popular, but it seems to me that if a pinball machine exists in real-life, and you want to Recreate it in VPX, the first step is to wait until the hardware and rom emulation is fairly complete, so you can use PinMame as a major part of the Table. The work and effort the VPX Table-Developers put into them is definitely appreciated. Well, I like Original and rom-less tables as much as the next guy.
